
SU Drops to Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Orange softball team (18-22, 4-14) fell to No. 25 Louisville (40-10, 15-5) 5-1 in the second game of the series. Lauren Fox tallied a career-high three hits against the Cardinals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the top of the first inning, Jadyn Burney reached first base after placing a bunt in front of home plate. Fox added a hit in the top of the third inning, singling to right field, and tallied a hit to second base in the top of the fifth inning. Fox recorded her third hit of the day in the top of the seventh inning.Â
Syracuse was unable to bring any runners home until the top of the sixth inning, when Burney scored from second base after Kaimi Tulua singled through the left side.Â
The Cardinals scored two runs in the first inning and added three more in the bottom of the sixth inning. Louisville's Madison Pickens led the day with two hits and two runs batted in for the Cardinals as Ava Venturelli brought two runs across home plate to secure a 5-1 win over Syracuse.Â
OF NOTEÂ
- Lauren Fox's three-hit performance was the third multi-hit game of her career.Â
- Pitcher Madison Knight threw a complete game, striking out four Louisville batters.Â

SU will close the series against the Cardinals on Sunday, April 26. The game is slated for 12 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.Â
