SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Orange softball team (18-24, 4-16) fell to No. 13 Virginia Tech (42-9, 16-6) in five innings,13-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Madison Knight and Jadyn Burney put Syracuse on the board in the bottom of the first inning, stepping across home plate after an error by Virginia Tech's Rachel Castine. Knight and Burney originally reached base after drawing walks to open the bottom of the first.

Virginia Tech added five runs each in the top of the third and fourth innings. Jordan Lynch and Castine launched home runs in the top of the fourth, helping the Hokies to an 11-2 lead. The Hokies capped off the game, scoring two runs in the top of the fifth inning to secure a 13-2 win in five innings over the Orange.

OF NOTE

Vanessa Flores recorded a hit, as Madelyn Lopez was credited with an RBI.
Sydney Jackson closed out the game, striking out two Virginia Tech batters.
Seniors Vanessa Flores, Jadyn Burney, Peyton Schemmer, Madelyn Lopez, Julianna Verni, Jackie Pengel, Rose Cano, Madison Knight and Gabby Lantier were honored in Saturday's Senior Ceremony.

UP NEXT
The Orange will close out the regular season against the No. 13 Hokies on Sunday, May 3 at Skytop Softball Stadium. The first pitch is slated for noon on ACC Network Extra.
