
#10 Orange Race #6 Yale, Cornell at Cayuga Cup

The No. 10-ranked Syracuse University women's rowing team took on No. 6 Yale and Cornell at the Cayuga Cup on Saturday in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Yale took home the Cayuga Cup for the third straight year in challenging, rainy conditions.
"I thought it was a really challenging day of racing where we went up against a top competitor in Yale and they showed us what it is to be a top competitor in all of the events," head coach Luke McGee said. "We're going to have to show some resiliency to pick ourselves back up."
In the first race of the day, Syracuse's third varsity eight placed second (7:11.08) behind Yale (7:04.36) and ahead of Cornell (7:43.71). The varsity eight (6:56.73) also came in second with Yale (6:44.60) finishing first and Cornell (7:16.16) in third. Syracuse's second varsity eight (7:11.54) crossed the line in second behind Yale (6:56.05) with Cornell coming in third (7:39.20).
Syracuse's varsity four took second place with a time of 7:47.22, behind Yale (7:38.91) and ahead of Cornell (8:35.67). In the second varsity four, the Orange took second (8:02.19) with Yale earning first (7:51.99) and Cornell placing third (8:49.77). Syracuse's third varsity four placed second (8:35.38) with the fourth varsity four in fourth (8:55.40) in the final race of the day. Yale's third varsity four (8:13.28) took the win with Cornell's boat coming in third (8:41.73).
The Orange will now set their sights on the Redwood Shores on April 12 and 13 in Redwood Shores, California. Syracuse will compete against No. 2 Stanford and No. 8 California.
