
Frederico '24 Wins Bronze at World Rowing Cup 1

Syracuse alumna Emmie Frederico '24 earned bronze in the women's eight at the World Rowing Cup 1 in Varese, Italy, this past weekend. Frederico also placed sixth in the grand final of the women's pair representing Australia in both events.Â
Frederico sat bow seat of Australia's women's eight, helping the Aussies to a third place finish in 6:06.80 on Lake Varese's 2,000m course. The crew earned third in the women's eight preliminary behind Great Britain (6:03.98) and the USA (6:05.19)Â finishing in 6:06.98. The three nations finished in the same order in the Grand Final on Sunday, with Australia improving on its time by 0.09 seconds.Â
In the women's pair, Frederico (bow) and teammate Paige Barr, placed second behind Czech Republic in Friday's Heat 3, advancing to Semifinal 2. In the semifinal, Australia placed third, behind Italy 1 and Czech Republic, to earn the final spot in the Grand Final. The duo was sixth in the Grand Final, finishing the race in 7:03.97.Â
Frederico was a CRCA Second Team All-American at Syracuse and helped the Orange to the program's first ACC Championship in school history in 2024. The bronze medal marks the second international medal she won for Australia, having earned a gold medal at the 2022 U23 World Championships.Â
