#10 Syracuse Races Top Competition At Princeton

No. 10 Syracuse took on a trio of women's rowing powerhouses Saturday on Lake Carnegie in Princeton, N.J. The Orange squared off against No. 5 Tennessee, No. 6 Princeton and No. 16 Ohio State in blustery conditions for their final event before next month's ACC Championships.
On a day that featured a tailwind of 13 mph, Tennessee's varsity eight turned in a sub-six-minute effort, finishing in 5:57.6 to beat Princeton (6:01.1), Syracuse (6:13.5) and Ohio State (6:22.8). Tennessee's second varsity eight followed that performance up with a time of 6:11.6 to again top the Tigers (6:17.2). Syracuse finished in 6:28.3 to beat out Ohio State (6:42.1).
Syracuse's second varsity four charged late to edge out Ohio State at the finish line for third, posting a time of 7:23.2 compared to Ohio State's 7:26.1. Princeton won the race (7:10.1) ahead of the Volunteers (7:13.0). The Orange's third varsity eight (6:36.1) and third varsity four (7:38.7) also placed third in their races.
The Orange will now turn their attention to defending their maiden ACC championship on May 16-17. The event will be contested at Lake Hartwell on Clemson's campus.
