Syracuse 3V4 Takes Gold At NYS Collegiate Championships

Syracuse's third varsity four took gold in the varsity four category Saturday at the NYS Collegiate Championships, which was held at Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The Orange tallied three wins on the day, with the third varsity eight placing second in its final.
The Orange delivered the best time out of 13 crews in the morning heats (8:24.500) to advance to the afternoon's varsity four final. Syracuse's third varsity four was again the fastest boat in the final, finishing in 8:03.480 to take home the victory over Marist (8:11.576) and UAlbany (8:16.417).
Syracuse's third varsity eight also set the pace in the morning varsity eight heats, turning in the best time (7:22.460) of the 15 competing crews. The Orange were nearly five seconds better than the next best time, which was set by Bates (7:27.320). In the final, Syracuse (7:04.734) was clipped by Colgate (7:01.440) but took home second place in the event.
The No. 10 Orange return to the water on April 26 to race No. 4 Princeton, No. 6 Tennessee and No. 14 Ohio State at Princeton.
