CHESTNUT HILL, MASS. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team (6-0) finished its weekend in Boston on Sunday, topping Boston College (3-4), 5-2.
'Cuse won the doubles point and tallied four singles wins to win the match.
THE RUNDOWN
- The Orange added their fifth doubles point win of the season. Serafima Shastova and Monika Wojcik picked up their first doubles victory together, winning 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.
- Miyuka Kimoto and Anastasia Sysoeva clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory playing the No. 2 spot. The duo improved to 2-1 together this season with the triumph.
- Nelly Knezkova and Shori Ito did not finish their match against Tola Glowacka and Natalie Eordekian on Court 1. They led 6-5 when the contest was halted.
- Wojcik won her match via a walkover, putting Syracuse up 2-0 at the start of singles. s
- Ito secured her fifth win in singles play this season by defeating Nadia Barteck with a 6-2, 6-2 result at the No. 5 spot. The senior is now 5-1 on the season in singles and 2-0 at the No. 5 position. All five of her victories have come in straight sets.
- Shastova clinched the match for the Orange, winning 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. It was her second victory of the season playing No. 4 singles, as she improved to 4-1 overall on the campaign.
- Kimoto played the No. 2 position in singles for the first time this season, defeating Glowacka 7-5, 3-6, 10-4. It was Syracuse's first victory to come in a match tiebreak this season.
- This is the second time in three seasons the Orange has started 6-0. Syracuse won its first nine matches in 2023.
