Orange Earn Come Back Win Against Cardinals, 4-3

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team (9-9, 2-9 ACC) earned its second win in conference play after defeating No. 62 Louisville (11-9, 3-8 ACC) Friday evening, 4-3, at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Entering singles play after losing the doubles point wasn't a problem for the Orange this evening after gaining four straight wins at the Nos. 3,6,5 and 2 positions when they were down 3-0.
Against the Cardinals, Monika Wojcik tallied her 12th win followed by Serafima Shastova with her 11th. The match ended when Nelly Knezkova defeated Like Peresypkina at the No. 2 spot with a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 result to clinch the victory.
THE RUNDOWN
- Shastova and Wojcik appeared for their 13th time this season in doubles play but were unable to finish their match before it was declared unfinished.
- No. 101 Shastova tallied the first win for the Orange after defeating Elena Noguero, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 at the No. 3 spot. She improves 11-3 on the season in singles play.
- Wojcik followed Shastova's momentum, winning 7-6 (5), 7-5 at the No. 6 position for the 12th time on the campaign.
- At the No. 5 position, Shiori Ito went into a third set and was crowned victorious with a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 result.
- Knezkova clinched the match for Syracuse while earning her ninth win in singles play. This is the second time she has clinched a match for the Orange.
- Syracuse continues to lead the all-time series against Louisville now improving to 9-7.
Syracuse will play its final match of the regular season on the road on Sunday, April 13 against No. 24 Notre Dame at the Eck Tennis Pavillion at 11 a.m.
