
Syracuse Finishes Undefeated In Non-Conference Play

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team (7-0) finished perfect in non-conference play after winning Sunday's match against Columbia (5-4) at Drumlins Country Club, 6-1.
After winning the doubles point, Syracuse found success in singles play, winning five out of the six matches.

After winning the doubles point, Syracuse found success in singles play, winning five out of the six matches.
THE RUNDOWN
- Nelly Knezkova and Shiori Ito finished first in doubles for the Orange with a 6-1 result. This was the pairing's fourth win in doubles this spring.
- Anastasia Sysoeva and Miyuka Kimoto clinched the doubles point for the Orange against Malak El Allami and Katima Keita at the No. 1 position, 6-3. The duo has now won their last three appearances together.
- Serafima Shastova and Monika Wojcik played at the No. 3 spot and led 5-4 when the match was abandoned. It was the the pairing's second time playing together this season.
- In a tough battle at the No. 1 positon, Kimoto clinched the match for Syracuse with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 result. Kimoto now holds a 4-0 record in singles this season, with three of the four victories coming at the No. 1 spot.
- Knezkova tallied a point for the Orange after winning against Fatima Keita, 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 2 spot. She is now 6-1 this season in singles with all six victories coming in the top two positions.
- Shastova finished first for the Orange, winning her fifth singles match of the season at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-2. This was her third win at that posistion on the campaign.
- Wojcik entered a first set tiebreak at the No. 6 spot, winning 7-6 (5). She came back from 4-1 down in the second to win 7-5, improving to 6-0 this season in singles.
- At the No. 5 singles position, Ito split the first two sets before winning 6-0 at the No. 5 position. She improved to 6-1 this spring with the victory.
- Syracuse now leads the all-time series against Columbia, 5-4.
- This is the second time in the last three seasons the Orange have gone unbeaten in in non-conference play.
