
UVA Tops Syracuse on Senior Day

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 68 Syracuse women's tennis team (8-9, 1-9 ACC) gave way to No. 5 Virginia (17-4, 9-2 ACC) with a 4-1 result in their last home match of the 2025 season. The Cavaliers won the doubles point against the Orange to set them up for success in singles.
Before the match went underway Sunday morning at Drumlins Country Club, the Orange celebrated Miyuka Kimoto and Shiori Ito to honor their time with the Syracuse tennis program before they graduate this May.
Serafima Shastova gave the Orange a point by defeating an ITA ranked opponent on the Cavaliers and earned her 10th win of the season. Three of the last standing matches of the day went into third sets before the matched was clinched by Virginia at the No. 4 spot.

Syracuse is on the road to Louisville, Kentucky to face the Louisville Cardinals on Friday, April 11 at 4 p.m.

THE RUNDOWN
- The No. 83 doubles team of Nelly Knezkova and Kimoto faced off against the top-ranked duo of Elaine Chervinsky and Melodie Collard, putting up a fight despite a 4-6 loss.
- At the No. 3 position, Shastova secured another win for the weekend against No. 30 ranked ITA player, Annabelle Xu with a 6-0, 6-4 score.
- Two of the six matches were declared unfinished this afternoon. Each of those matches were in its third set.
- Isabelle Lacy clinched the match for Virginia after defeating Anastasia Sysoeva, 7-6 in both sets.
- Virginia continues to lead the all-time series which is now 17-1 against Syracuse.
