
Orange Bested By Yellow Jackets, 4-2

ATLANTA, GA. – The No. 67 Syracuse women's tennis team (8-6, 1-6 ACC) came up short against No. 29 Georgia Tech (9-7, 3-3 ACC), falling 4-2 Friday evening at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
Starting off the match, the Yellow Jackets won the doubles point against the Orange to put them in the lead 1-0. Serafima Shastova and Shiori Ito had two strong performances for the Orange, winning in their singles matches. Yellow Jacket Taly Licht clinched the match for Georgia Tech at the No. 4 position.
THE RUNDOWN
Syracuse travels to Clemson, S.C. for a match on Sunday, March 23 at 12 p.m against the Clemson Tigers.

Starting off the match, the Yellow Jackets won the doubles point against the Orange to put them in the lead 1-0. Serafima Shastova and Shiori Ito had two strong performances for the Orange, winning in their singles matches. Yellow Jacket Taly Licht clinched the match for Georgia Tech at the No. 4 position.
THE RUNDOWN
- Nelly Knezova appeared at the No. 1 position for the Orange in today's matchup for the fifth time this season.
- No. 107 Miyuka Kimoto faced No. 97 Alejandra Cruz at the No. 2 spot but lost with a 6-1, 6-3 result. This was Kimoto's second time playing at this position and sixth time playing against an ITA ranked opponent.
- Ito defeated Olivia Carneiro at the No. 5 spot in singles play winning 6-1, 7-6 (7). This put the Orange on the board for the first time this evening, 3-1. She added her eighth win in singles for the season.
- At the No. 3 position Shastova secured a victory over her opponent after winning the first set in a tiebreak 7-6 (7-3) followed by 6-2 result in the second set.
- Monika Wojcik entered a third set after she lost the first set 2-6, but won the second 6-4. Wojcik led 3-2 before the match was declared unfinished.
- Georgia Tech now leads the all-time series 11-3 against Syracuse.
