TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Orange softball team (11-10, 0-3) dropped the finale of its first ACC series to No. 10 Florida State (25-4, 3-0) 11-6. Jadyn Burney hit a grand slam to contribute to Syracuse's six-run fourth inning, but the Seminoles extended the lead, ultimately defeating SU 11-6.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After three scoreless innings for the Orange and down 7-0, Syracuse changed the momentum in the top of the fourth, chipping away at the Seminoles' lead.

Vanessa Flores singled through the right side to reach first base for the first hit of the game for 'Cuse. Peyton Schemmer entered as a pinch runner for Flores, advancing to second base after Taylor Davison drew a walk at the plate. Kaimi Tulua singled to shallow right field, allowing Schemmer to score from second base.

Lauren Fox singled to left field, loading the bases. Harmony Jackson walked, bringing Davison home to add another run to the board and keeping the bases loaded for Syracuse as Burney stepped up to the plate. The graduate student launched a grand slam as the Orange closed in on the lead, but still trailed Florida State 7-6.

The Seminoles would go on to add four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Both teams were unable to add additional runs to the board, as Florida State secured an 11-6 win to close out the series.

OF NOTE

Jadyn Burney hit her second career home run, both of which have been grand slams.
Burney made her first start at shortstop of the season.
Catcher Taylor Davison led the team with five putouts in the game.
