
Orange Improve To 4-0 At Home

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse University women's tennis team (4-0) defeated Drexel (2-1) on Sunday, 6-1, at Drumlins Country Club after safely winning the doubles point and putting up a hard-fought battle to win five of six points in singles play.
THE RUNDOWN
Syracuse is on the road next weekend at Chestnut Hill, Mass., for its first away matches this season. The Orange will begin on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4:30 p.m. against Boston followed by its ACC opener on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. against Boston College.

THE RUNDOWN
- Syracuse did not drop a game at Nos.1 and 3 doubles to clinch the doubles point. Shiori Ito and Nelly Knezkova improved to 2-0 together on the season playing the No. 1 position while Anastasia Sysoeva and Serafima Shastova made their first appearance together at the No. 3 spot.
- Constance Leviver made her doubles debut on the season at the No. 2 spot partnered with freshman Monika Wojcik. The duo tallied a win for the Orange, 6-1.
- 'Cuse lost one game across the three doubles matches against the Dragons. The Orange have now won three of four doubles points on the season.
- The Orange won all their first sets in singles, with four of them coming via 6-4 scores.
- Freshman Haram Kim picked up Syracuse's first singles victory of the contest at the No. 6 spot. She won 6-4, 6-2 to improve to 2-0 on the season.
- Knezkova returned to the No. 1 singles position for the second straight match, defeating Eliza Rigazio, 6-4,6-3. Knezkova is now 4-0 on the campaign with all four victories coming at the Nos. 1 and 2 spots.
- Wojick won the first three-set match of her college career at the No. 5 position. She won the first frame 6-0 but fell short in the second set losing, 4-6. Wojick bounced back way to win the third set, 6-2, improving to 3-0 on the campaign in singles.
- Ito also improved to 4-0 on the season in singles after winning 6-4, 6-1 against Maddie Ricardo at the No. 3 spot. This was Ito's second win to come at the No. 3 position.
- Levivier delivered another Orange victory with a 6-4, 6-4 result at the No. 4 spot. Levivier also moved to 4-0 on the campaign in singles with her victory.
- Sysoeva dropped the only match of the day for Syracuse, falling in three tight sets at the No. 2 spot.
- Syracuse is now 21-3 on the season in singles and is 4-0 at four of the six positions.
