
Syracuse Ships Up To Boston For Doubleheader

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After starting 4-0 at home, the Syracuse University women's tennis team (4-0) is on the road for a doubleheader for the first time this season, traveling to Boston to face Boston University (1-3) on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 4:30 p.m. in Winchester, Mass., followed by a match against ACC opponent Boston College (3-2) on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

ABOUT THE ORANGE
- Syracuse is coming off a 10-11 campaign last spring. The Orange returned four players from last year's team this fall and welcomed two newcomers.
- Miyuka Kimoto is back for her senior year with the Orange after racking up 11 doubles and 10 singles victories in the spring. She earned her first ACC Player of the Week Award last March and was tabbed No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) preseason singles rankings.
- Also back as a senior for the Orange is Shiori Ito, who checked in at No. 44 in the ITA's preseason doubles rankings alongside Kimoto. She has won 31 career dual singles contests and to go along with her 27 doubles victories.
- Anastasia Sysoeva returns for her second year with 'Cuse as a junior. In her debut campaign last year, she finished with a 12-6 record in singles, which included six wins against ACC opponents.
- Another returning junior for the Orange is Constance Levivier, who tallied six wins last spring across singles and doubles.
- Syracuse welcomes two fresh faces this fall - Nelly Knezkova and Serafima Shastova. Knezkova earned All-Big West Second Team honors in singles last season at Hawaii, where she played the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. In her one year at Jacksonville State, Shastova won 12 singles contests on her way to earning First Team All-ASUN and ASUN Freshman of the Year honors.
- Joining the Orange for the Spring season are two freshmen, Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim.
- Head coach Younes Limam returns for his 11th season at the helm of the Orange. Jacqueline Calla is in her second season as an assistant coach.
- Syracuse defeated Drexel 6-1 on Sunday to improve 4-0 on the season.
- Across the three doubles matches, Syracuse only lost one game against the Dragons. This improved the Orange record to 3-1 in doubles points this season.
- Constance Levivier made her doubles debut at the No. 2 position with Monika Wojcik, securing a 6-1 result for 'Cuse. Levivier also addded another win in singles with the score of 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot.
- Shiori Ito and Nelly Knezkova improved to 2-0 together on the season playing the No. 1 position. Each of them also holds a 4-0 record in singles play over the last four matches.
- Syracuse did not drop a game in the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles positions.
- The Orange won all their first sets in singles.
- Freshman Haram Kim moved to 2-0 for the season after winning in No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-2.
- Syracuse finished the fall with 39 victories in singles and 22 in doubles.
- The Orange totaled 23 victories at Penn Invitational from Sept. 13-15, with 13 wins in singles and 10 in doubles.
- At ITA New England Regionals from Oct. 10-15, Shastova won the singles title, with Ito and Knezkova making a run to the quarterfinals in the doubles draw.
- Syracuse then compiled a 12-0 record in singles at the Big Red Invite from Oct. 25-27. The Orange went 152-58 in games across the 12 singles wins.
- Syracuse played its last full fall event at the UB Indoor Invite from Nov. 1-3, with the Orange concluding the tournament with seven wins in singles and four in doubles.
- Shastova finished the fall season with a 13-2 record in singles on her way to a berth at the NCAA Individual Championships.
- Ito and Knezkova appeared in the ITA final fall doubles rankings at No.96.
- Levivier recorded 10 doubles wins in the fall, one of two Orange players to reach 10+ doubles wins in the fall along with Knezkova.
- Knezkova combined for 20 wins in the fall across singles and doubles with Ito adding 17 of her own.
- Syracuse is 21-3 in singles in its first four matches.
- The Orange are 4-0 in four of the six singles positions this year.
- Syracuse has won 23 sets in singles by either a 6-0, 6-1 or 6-2 score. Of Syracuse's 44 winning sets, 52% have come by those scores.
- Syracuse freshmen Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim are 8-1 across doubles and singles this season.
- Wojcik is 3-0 in singles and has won a pair of sets with a 6-0 score.
- Kim made her college debut in the Fordham match, winning at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-3.
- Wojick was awarded ACC Freshman of the Week on Tuesday after competing against Drexel. She won her first ever three-set singles match, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2, and picked up a victory at No. 2 doubles with Levivier.
- Three Syracuse players are 4-0 this season in singles – Levivier, Ito and Knezkova.
- All three players are a perfect 8-0 in sets on the campaign. Between the three of them they are 111-39 in total games for a winning percentage of 74%.
- Levivier has played three different singles positions this season, including the last two matches at the No. 4 spot
- Ito has also played three different spots on the season. Against Fordham, Ito won her first set 6-0, one of three 6-0 sets posted by a Syracuse player against the Rams. Of the Syracuse players to play singles in every match this season, Ito has dropped the fewest games (18).
- Knezkova has played two matches at the No. 2 spot and twice at the No. 1 position against Fordham and Drexel. She has dropped only 11 games at the No. 1 spot.
- Boston University has a 1-3 overall record so far this season after posting a 15-8 record during the 2023-24 season.
- Three teams have defeated BU, 6-1. In those matches, Boston did not win the doubles point.
- The Terriers brought in an impressive and impactful freshman recruiting class: Madison Liu, Gabriella Mikaul and Emily Tan. Two of them are five-star recruits and the other is a four-star recruit.
- BU plays Boston College on Friday before facing 'Cuse on Saturday.
- Boston University leads 11-7 in the all-time series.
- This will be the first ACC test this season for the Eagles when they face Syracuse on Sunday.
- Boston College has a 3-0 record at home, but a 0-2 away record. Their overall win percentage is 60%.
- The Eagles have tallied one sweep this season gained against Army, 7-0.
- Boston College leads the all-time series 23-16 against 'Cuse.
The Orange return home to Drumlins Country Club Sunday, Feb. 16 at 11 a.m against Columbia.
