
Syracuse Completes Successful Penn Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Syracuse University women's tennis team capped off its first event of the fall season Sunday with another successful showing at the Penn Invitational.
The Orange won two doubles and three singles matches on the tournament's final day. In doubles, Miyuka Kimoto and Anastasia Sysoeva teamed up for an 8-6 win over Missouri's duo of Inah Canete and Korina Roso, and Constance Levivier and Nelly Knezkova delivered an 8-4 victory against Lailaa Bashir and Gian Octa of Missouri.
In singles, Nelly Knezkova picked up her third victory of the week, defeating Temple's Thamara Frasser Kawaratani 6-2, 0-6, 6-3. Shiori Ito also picked up a 6-3, 7-6 (2) victory over Penn's Liza Tkachenko and Anastasia Sysoeva dropped just two games in a win over Temple's Kelly Richter.
In total, the Orange posted 23 victories in the tournament, with 13 coming in singles and 10 in doubles. All six Syracuse players won at least one match in both singles and doubles, with eight different doubles combinations registering at least one victory.
