Women's Rowing Finishes Seventh Among College Crews at HOCR

Syracuse's women's rowing team began the 2024-25 campaign with the fifth fastest time among NCAA crews at the 59th annual Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday in Cambridge, Mass. A five second penalty was issued to the Orange resulting in 12th overall for SU. Leander was the top performer winning the race in 15:30.611.
SU finished the five kilometer race in 15:54.634 behind fellow college crews Yale (15:33.857), Washington (15:36.343), Princeton (15:48.320), and Brown (15:51.670). Fellow ACC competitors in the race were Virginia (10th overall) finishing in 15:56.992 and Clemson (26th overall) with a time of 16:44.528.
The Orange lineup consisted of coxswain Caileigh Grimes, Zoe Acosta (stroke), Rachel Weber (seven), Ella McKinley (six), Katie Breeze (five), Acorn Cassidy (four), Aphrodite Gioulekas (three), Olivia Bachert (two) and Kaitlyn Dennis (bow) for the first race of the season.
