Shastova Through To Singles Semis At ITA New England Regionals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Serafima Shastova continued her impressive week at ITA New England Regionals at Harvard on Sunday, as the sophomore advanced to the singles semifinals on the fourth day of the event for the Syracuse University women's tennis team.
Shastova was pushed to a tiebreak in the opening set against Yale's Mirabelle Brettkelly but did not drop a point in that breaker, winning it 7-0. The sophomore carried that momentum into the second set, as she won 6-0. The second-set bagel was her fourth of the fall and second in as many matches at this tournament.
In doubles, the duo of Shiori Ito and Nelly Knezkova kicked off the morning with an 8-1 victory against the Harvard tandem of Anna-Raphaelle Sergi and Angel You in the round of 16 but fell in the quarterfinals. Syracuse's other doubles team of Shastova and Constance Levivier fell in the round of 16.
Shastova will contest her singles semifinal against Michela Moore of Dartmouth on Monday at 10 a.m.
