BUFFALO, N.Y. – It was another stellar outing for the Syracuse University women's tennis team Saturday at the UB Indoor Invite, as the Orange picked up four more victories on the event's second day. Buffalo is hosting the tournament at the Miller Tennis Center.
Nelly Knezkova and Shiori Ito both extended their singles winning streaks to five while also teaming up for a victory in doubles. In singles, Knezkova came from a set down against Noemi Babikova of St. John's to win 5-7, 7-6 (4), her first win of the fall in a match tiebreak. Ito turned in another dominant performance, losing just two games in a win over Nicolina Sartz-Lunde of St. John's. Ito has lost just three total games across her four winning sets at the tournament.
In doubles, Ito and Knezkova took down Babikova and Nielsen of St. John's in a tiebreak, 7-6 (4). It was their fourth victory of the fall together. Syracuse's other doubles team of Constance Levivier and Serafima Shastova was also victorious, as they defeated Sartz-Lunde and Charlotta Buss 6-2 to improve to 6-1 this fall as a tandem.
