SYRACUSE, N.Y.-Â The Orange are prepped to host New Haven on Monday Sept. 8 at the SU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. This is the Chargers' first season at the Division I level and the first meeting between the two teams.
Â
'Cuse Update
The Orange fell 1-0 against Duquesne in a thrilling match on Friday. Syracuse outshot its opponent for the third match in a row, taking 17 attempts against Duquesne compared to the Dukes' four.Â
Syracuse had six corner kicks and close opportunities to equalize Hakon Dagur Matthiasson of Duquesne's 70th minute goal, but came up short. The Orange now hold a 2-2-1 record and look to record their first home win this season against New Haven.
Head coach Ian McIntyre is currently tied with Dean Foti for the most wins as a Syracuse men's soccer coach. A victory on Monday would give him his 142nd win and break the program record.
Â
Â
Scouting the Chargers
New Haven is coming off a 1-1 draw against Dartmouth. Freshman defender Guilherme Meira scored the lone goal for the Chargers in the 26th minute during last Friday's match on the road. Graduate student Alessandro Bizzini made four saves during the game in the goal for New Haven.
Junior forward Lukian Lawro leads the Chargers offensively with two goals this season. Graduate student Archie Watts accounts for 11 saves at the goal this year recorded against Monmouth and Providence College.
This is New Haven's first season as a Division I program. The school accepted its invite to join the Northeast Conference in May of 2025. The Chargers are currently 2-0-1 to start off the season.
