Syracuse Drops Match to Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y.- The Syracuse men's soccer team fell to Cornell 2-1. A goal by Tim Brdaric in the 26th minute put the Orange up on the board, but Cornell rallied with two unanswered goals.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Cornell had the chance to net the ball, but a slide tackle by Ernest Mensah Jr. knocked the ball away from the Big Red in the 17th minute.
A foul in the 24th minute set Cornell up for a free kick just outside the box, but the Big Red's Connor Miller missed high off target.
In the 26th minute, Tim Brdaric headed the ball past Big Red goalkeeper Ryan Friedberg, off Ernest Mensah Jr.'s free kick. The Orange led at the half, 1-0.
A free kick in the 62nd minute set up Cornell to tie the score. Westin Carnevale took the unassisted shot to even the match 1-1.
The Big Red sealed the win in the 77th minute when Blake Donahue scored off an assist from Andrew Johnson.
OF NOTE
- The Orange were outshot by Cornell 20-8
- Syracuse had six corner kicks compared to the Big Red's four
- Goalkeeper Tomas Hut tallied five saves
UP NEXT
Syracuse will host No. 22 North Carolina at home for Senior Day. The last regular-season home match is slated for 3 p.m. and will feature a ceremony for the graduating class of 2026.
