SYRACUSE, N.Y.– The Orange are set to host their first match of the season against Connecticut on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m at the SU Soccer Stadium.

'Cuse Update
Syracuse won its exhibition matches against Marist (Aug. 9) and Mercyhurst (Aug. 12), and tied St. John's (Aug. 16), outscoring its opponents, 6-1.

Five different players scored for the Orange in their three tune-ups. Bright Nutornutsi led the way with two goals, while Sachiel Ming, Michael Acquah, Callum Lugton and Emanuel Cappello each added one tally throughout the preseason.

'Cuse is coming off a 7-7-3 record in 2024. The Orange made an apperance in the ACC Championship, falling to Wake Forest in the first round.

Scouting the Huskies
Connecticut comes off a 8-4-6 season in 2024. The Huskies' season ended in the first round of the Big East Championship in a 2-0 match to Providence, a future competitor of Connecticut later this season. The Huskies finished fifth in their division in the Big East, holding a 3-2-3 conference record.

Prior to Thursday's matchup, Connecticut played in two exhibition matches each on the road. The Huskies played against Rhode Island (Aug. 8) and Boston College (Aug. 16) one of the ACC opponents the Orange will face later this season on Oct. 3.

The Huskies welcome nine new players to their roster, including five freshmen and four transfers. Three Huskies were taken in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft- Mikah Thomas, Max Kerkvliet and Kieran Chandler.

Series History
Syracuse and Connecticut haven't matched up since the 2022 season, which resulted in a 5-0 win for the Orange on the road.

The Huskies lead the series, holding 22 victories over Syracuse's 14. The pair of teams have only drawn three times in the span of all time matchups.

The Orange own a four-game win streak over Connecticut, which has not earned a win over 'Cuse since 2009.

The Orange will hit the road for the first time this season against Loyola Maryland. The match is slated for Sunday Aug. 24 at noon. The match will be available to stream on ESPN+.
