
5 Orange Earn All-ACC at XC Championships

The Syracuse men's cross country team placed fifth at the ACC Championships, the first season of the expanded 18-team league. The women took eighth.
Three Orange men and two woman earned All-ACC honors, with Sam Lawler, Assaf Harari and Alex Comerford receiving the distinction for the men, and Savannah Roark and Emma Eastman claiming the award for the women by placing inside the top-21.
Lawler led the way in 10th, finishing the 8k WakeMed Course in 22:46.5. He was followed three spots behind by Harari (22:55.0) and Comerford was 20th in 23:00.5. Benne Anderson (23:12.1) and Connor Ackley (23:28.9) were 34th and 47th, respectively, to round out the scoring.
Ethan Wechsler (23:31.9) also turned in a top-50 finish, while Kamari Miller (23:55.8) and Ruben Rojas Betanzos (24:25.4) also raced.
No. 7 Wake Forest (60 points) won the team title, followed by No. 5 Stanford (69 points), No. 13 North Carolina (80 points) and No. 16 Virginia (94 points). The No. 12 Orange finished with 122 points, five points ahead of No. 10 Notre Dame to secure the fifth spot.
The women were led by Roark, who finished the 6k race in 19:55.0 to take 13th place. Eastman was five spots behind in 20:08.4. Selma Anderson was 50th overall in 20:39.7, followed five places later by Rylie Lusk (20:43.9). Heidi Demeo was the Orange's fifth scorer in 61st (20:49.1).
Jayden Harberts (21:04.5), Olivia Joly (21:09.2), Beatriz Fernandes (21:16.6), Sarah Lawson (21:52.7) and Baneet Bains (22:09.7) also competed for 'Cuse.
No. 5 Notre Dame claimed the team title (115 points), followed by No. 15 Stanford (121 points), No. 19 North Carolina (121 points), No. 21 Virginia (152 points), No. 10 NC State (160 points), No. 30 Boston College (185 points), No. 13 Florida State (190 points) and the Orange (197 points), who bested host Wake Forest by three points.
Syracuse will have a two-week hiatus before the NCAA Northeast Regional, where the SU women will enter seeking to defend their team title.
