
Orange Post Strong Performances at Gans Creek Classic

The Syracuse men's cross country team finished sixth in the highly competitive Gans Creek Classic, which featured 24 teams that were either ranked or receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA Poll.
Leading the Orange, Assaf Harai took 17th place with a time of 23:02.2. He was followed by Sam Lawler, who finished 22nd at 23:05.5, and Matthew Neill, who took 39th at 23:15.9 putting three Orange in the top 50. Peter Walsdorf placed 72nd (23:34.5), while Ben Gabelman placed 80th (23:37.4) to round out the scoring. Louis Small (23:39.1) was two spots back of Gabelman, followed by Benne Anderson (23:54.5) and Connell Alford (24:05.9).
The 'Cuse women finished 15th in the 6k race, another race with a loaded field of nearly 20 ranked or receiving votes teams.
Selma Anderson led the Orange, finishing at 20:08.7 in 38th place. Teammates Emma Eastman (48th/20:18.6), Madeline Heintz (92nd/20:47.3), Jayden Harberts (122nd/21:01.2) and Maisie Burns (143rd/21:14.9) concluded the 'Cuse scoring. Nyah Hernandez (21:20.0), Carmen Luisi (21:42.9) and Olivia Shattuck (22:15.1) rounded out the Syracuse field.
The Orange return to action next week (Oct. 3) at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh.
