
6 Earn All-ACC; Men Take 2nd at ACC XC Championships

Five Orange men and one woman earned All-ACC honors, with Sam Lawler, Assaf Harari, Peter Walsdorf, Benne Anderson and Matthew Neill receiving the distinction for the men, and Selma Anderson claiming the award for the women by placing inside the top-21.
The Orange men took second overall, continuing their streak of success in the conference. Syracuse has finished first or second in 11 of their 13 seasons in the league.
Lawler led the way in eighth, finishing the 8k Sawyer State Park course in 22:55.8. He was followed closely by Harari (22:55.0) in 11th and Walsdorf was 14th in 23:02.1.
Anderson (23:06.5) and Neill (23:14.7) were 15th and 17th, respectively. Ben Gabelman (23:22.7) was 23rd to round out the scoring.
Louis Small (23:43.3), Sam Ricchiuti (23:50.0), Ruben Rojas Betanzos (23:50.3) and Connell Alford (24:20.8) also raced.
No. 4 Virginia (61 points) won the team title, followed by the No. 6 Orange (65 points), No. 12 Wake Forest (111 points) and No. 16 Notre Dame (114 points). The Orange finished four points behind the Cavaliers to secure the runner-up spot.
The women were led by Anderson, who finished the 6k race in 20:01.7 to take 20th place. Madeline Heintz was 42 spots behind in 20:46.0.
Emma Eastman was 63rd overall in 20:46.9, followed five places later by Nyah Hernandez (20:55.7). Jayden Harberts was the Orange's fifth scorer in 90th (21:18.5).
Maisie Burns (21:37.2), Carmen Luisi (21:20.7), Alycia Hart (22:03.6) and Beatriz Fernandes (22:48.4) also competed for 'Cuse.
No. 2 NC State claimed the team title (28 points), followed by No. 5 Notre Dame (89 points). The Orange finished 13th as a team with 303 points.
Syracuse will have a two-week hiatus before the NCAA Northeast Regional, where the SU men will enter seeking to defend their team title.
