Championship season begins this Friday, Oct. 31 for the Syracuse men's and women's cross country teams. The Orange will compete at the ACC Cross Country Championships in Louisville, Kentucky hosted by the University of Louisville. It'll be broadcast on ACCN.

The 'Cuse women will race Selma Anderson, Maisie Burns, Emma Eastman, Beatriz Fernandes, Jayden Harberts, Alycia Hart, Madeline Heintz, Nyah Hernandez, Carmen Luisi and Olivia Shattuck.

The men will follow with Connell Alford, Benne Anderson, Ben Gabelman, Assaf Harari, Sam Lawler, Matthew Neill, Sam Ricchiuti, Ruben Rojas Betanzos, Louis Small and Peter Walsdorf.

MEET PREVIEW:
Heading into the conference championship weekend, no league has more ranked squads in this week's USTFCCCA Poll than the ACC.

On the men's side, seven of the nation's top 27 programs are set to compete. The No. 6 Syracuse men will race amongst a highly competitive set of ranked squads: No. 4 Virginia, No. 12 Wake Forest, No. 16 Notre Dame, No. 23 North Carolina, No. 27 Virginia Tech and No.27 Stanford.

The women's poll features several ranked competitors. The Orange women will take on No. 2 NC State, No. 5 Notre Dame, No. 13 Stanford, No.15 Virginia, No. 28 Wake Forest, and No. 30 Boston College.

ACC HISTORY:
The Syracuse men's cross-country team has finished first or second at this meet in 10 of their 12 seasons in the league, including six league titles in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019.

The women's team clinched a fourth-place finish in the 2023 event, the program's top finish since 2021, where they also took fourth.

Last season, the Syracuse men's cross country team placed fifth at the ACC Championships, the first season of the expanded 18-team league. The women took eighth. Three Orange men and two women earned All-ACC honors, with Sam Lawler, Assaf Harari and Alex Comerford receiving the distinction for the men, and Savannah Roark and Emma Eastman claiming the award for the women by placing inside the top-21.
