Bucknam joined the Syracuse staff in August of 2016 after a successful running career at both Minnesota and Lipscomb.
Bucknam was with the Minnesota cross country and track and field teams from 2011-14 before racing for Lipscomb in 2015-16 for her final year of eligibility. She helped lead the Gophers to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championship for just the 10th time in program history, finishing sixth on the squad in her NCAA debut as a redshirt junior. She was an Academic All-Big Ten selection and earned the NCAA Sportsmanship Award following the 2014 cross county season.
On the track, she most commonly competed in the 1,500 and 3,000-meter steeplechase during her outdoor campaigns and the mile and 3k during her indoor seasons. She placed 11th at the 2015 Big Ten Championship in the steeplechase. She had also previously won the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award during the 2015 track season.
She earned her undergraduate degree in kinesiology and is pursuing a Master's degree in exercise science at SU.
The daughter of Chris and Cindy Bucknam, she comes from a running family as her father Chris is the track and field coach at the University of Arkansas where he is the 15-time SEC Coach of the Year, 2013 National Coach of the Year and has mentored 240 All-Americans.
