'Cuse Completes Day One at Raleigh Relays

Syracuse set a pair of personal bests on Thursday night to open the Raleigh Relays.
Julian Franjieh and Solomon Holden-Betts placed 14th and 15th, respectively, in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, taking the top two spots in the event's third heat. Franjieh ran a personal best with a time of 8:47.74, while Holden-Betts finished closely behind with an 8:50.08 in his steeplechase debut.
In the 5,000-meter race, Ruben Rojas Betanzos turned in a personal best of his own, finishing in 14:19.28. Freshmen Omar Alsaidi (14:24.33) and Connell Alford (14:45.59) made their first outdoor appearances in the event.

Gabriel Planty capped off the night for the Orange in the 10,000-meter race, finishing in 30:32.24.
The Orange continue at the Raleigh Relays on Friday with three runners entered in the women's steeplechase.
