
Double Digit PRs Set on Friday

Syracuse's distance group opened their outdoor slate with the first 10ks of the season on Friday night at the Stanford Invitational, plus others competed locally at the Cortland Red Dragon Open. The Orange finished Friday with over 10 new PRs.
Emma Eastman (32:47.21) led the way with a career-best time in the 10,000-meter run, placing 10th in her heat, she was followed by Rylie Lusk (33:13.56), who also PRed and Savannah Roark (33:22.60). Nyah Hernandez (34:45.44) also ran, taking 23rd in her heat.
Sam Lawler was the top men's finisher in a PR time of 28:21.08, which earned him 21st overall in his heat. Assaf Harari was two seconds behind in 28:23.69, also a career best. Ethan Wechsler (30:37.76) was 19th in his heat.
In the 5k, Ben Gabelman (13:49.44) was fourth in his heat, posting a new 5k PR (indoor or outdoor) in his first outdoor 5k, followed by Sam Ricchiuti in 14:06.99.
Heidi Demeo opened up her outdoor season in the 1,500-meter run, where she was 13th in her section with a time of 4:23.15.
Syracuse also competed locally on Friday, at the Cortland Red Dragon Open.
'Cuse took the top-three spots in the 110-meter hurdles, led by Emanuel Joseph (13.98). Isaiah Hayes (14.22) and David Peters (14.26). Joseph's time was a new personal best.
The Orange women secured the top-five spots and six of the top eight in the 1,500-meter run. Grace Finnegan (4:44.16) was the top finisher, followed by Leah Futey (4:44.99), who PRed, Lauren Augustyn (4:48.57), Beatriz Fernandes (4:51.03) and Olivia Shattuck (4:51.11). Lizzie Bigelow placed eighth (4:55.39), also a career best. Lucy Zombek (5:21.21)Â and Kayla Harding (5:36.97) rounded out the Orange field.
Shayla Ford also picked up a win for the Orange, taking the 400-meter dash by nearly a full second. Her time of 58.59 seconds was a new PR. Mia Hernandez (1:02.13) was seventh overall.
Madison Ceasar won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.66, nearly a full second ahead of the nearest competitor.
Ceasar (14.11 seconds) was also the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles, followed three placed back by Marissa Saunders (15.42 seconds).
Blake Parker and Emily Rutkowski were third and fourth, respectively, in the 800-meters. Parker crossed the line in 2:24.57, followed by Rutkowski in 2:26.53. Maya Dubrovsky took 11th with a time of 2:31.93.
The Orange are back in action next weekend at a trio of events.
