#15 Orange Beat #16 Cardinals at Home

Syracuse improved to 7-3 overall with a 2-1 victory over #16 Louisville (5-6, 1-2 ACC) on Friday at J.S. Coyne Stadium. The 15th-ranked Orange were led by Bo van Kempen who twice scored off an SU corner in the ACC victory. 'Cuse improves to 2-2 in the ACC.Â
The Cardinals took the lead first when Chloe Plumb had a tip-in goal off a Louisville corner. Izzy Bianco was credited with the assist as the Cardinals took the early lead in the third minute. With 19 seconds to play in the first quarter van Kempen evened the score on a drag flick that found the back of the cage. Willewmijn Boogert had the insertion for her fifth assist of the year.Â
The two teams carried the 1-1 stalemate in the half with the Orange holding a 5-1 advantage in shots.Â
In the 41st minute van Kempen scored again, this time off a corner from Lieke Leeggangers. It marked van Kempen's team-leading eighth goal of the season while Leeggangers had her second assist of the season.Â
Louise Pert earned her sixth win in the cage this season, improving to 6-2 overall.
Syracuse returns to action to host #14 Princeton on Sunday, Oct. 6. Game time is set for 11:30 a.m. at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Fans unable to attend can watch live on ACC Network Extra (ACCNX).Â
