How it Happened
- The Orange went on the attack immediately, earning a penalty corner in the third minute that set up a Liddell shot turned aside by Young.
- Two minutes later, Turner broke through in the fifth minute, finishing a Hattie Madden assist for a 1-0 Syracuse lead.
- Louisville answered in the 15th minute as Plumb scored unassisted, sending the game to the second quarter level at 1-1.
- Syracuse dominated the second quarter, outshooting the Cardinals 9-1 and earning six penalty corners. Young stood tall with six saves in the period, denying Liddell, Weaver, Frenken, and Hattie Madden to keep the game tied at halftime.
- Moments after a Louisville green card, the Orange were awarded a penalty stroke in the 32nd minute. Bo Madden stepped up and buried the chance for a 2-1 lead.
- Eiselin turned away Annabel Sep on a Louisville penalty corner in the 38th minute. The Cardinals then earned three straight corners in the 43rd minute, but the Orange defense blocked all three Sep attempts.
- With 20 seconds left in the third quarter, McCooey sent in a penalty corner. Brewer helped work the ball to Liddell, who scored with 15 seconds remaining to make it 3-1 through 45 minutes.
- Louisville pulled within one in the 47th minute when Edwards scored on a Masters assist. The Cardinals nearly tied it in the 52nd minute, but Mary Wordelmann's shot on a penalty corner rang off the post.
- Louisville pulled its goalkeeper with just over seven minutes to play. Weaver made the Cardinals pay in the 58th minute, finishing a Frenken assist into the open cage for her fourth goal of the year and the 4-2 final.
- The Orange turn around quickly, hosting No. 7 Harvard on Sunday, October 11, at J.S. Coyne Stadium with a 1 p.m. start on ACCNX.
- Following Sunday's game, Syracuse will honor its five seniors and graduate student: Grace Anne McCooey, Jessie Eiselin, Grace O'Connor, Bo Madden and Hattie Madden.
