How it Happened
- After a scoreless first period that featured four shots from the visitors and a pair from Syracuse, Leeggangers got a stick on a van Kempen shot on a penalty corner, tipping the ball just over the leg of Ford.
- With four minutes to go in the first half, Syracuse doubled its lead as Gans perfectly read a would-be Stanford outlet pass before passing forward to Boogert. The latter ripped a shot from just inside the circle for her first of the day and a 2-0 lead at halftime.
- It was scoreless through the third period, despite seven shots from Syracuse, five of which were on goal and stopped by Ford.
- Right in front of the Syracuse bench, Boogert used a rangy poke check to jar the ball loose, collecting, and driving towards the Stanford circle. The Beek, Netherlands product ripped another shot from the top of the circle, scoring solo for the final tally of the day.
- Boogert recorded the first multiple goal day of her career and it was her first four-point outing with the Orange.
- Van Kempen recorded her third assist of the season and 21st point while Leeggangers tipped home her second goal of the season. Gans also added her second assist of her young 'Cuse career.
- Pert and Hekkenberg split time in goal, the former playing in 54 minutes while the latter spelled her for the final six. It was the sixth shutout of the season for Syracuse and third in ACC play, joining clean sheets against Wake and Duke two weeks ago.
- The Orange backline has been stout over the last six games, allowing just a third of a goal per game since Sept. 22.
- Protecting J.S. Coyne Stadium, Syracuse improved to 5-1 at home this season with just two games remaining at the friendly confines.
- Offensively, the three goals were the most for Syracuse since a 4-0 win at Longwood. The Orange have found their stride, scoring multiple goals in each of the last three games.
- The Orange return home to J.S. Coyne Stadium for the penultimate home game of the 2024 regular season on Sunday.
- Syracuse takes on No. 18 California in another top-20 clash, the seventh of the year for the Orange.
- Game time is set for noon and will air on ACC Network Extra. Max Gifford and Ian Nicholas will have the call.
