Emma Carlisle Reske joins the Syracuse men’s rowing program as an assistant coach on August 24, 2020 after spending the 2019-20 season as the Princeton lightweight men's rowing assistant coach.
Carlisle Reske most recently directed the walk-on rowing team at Princeton and specified with the fourth varsity crew last spring. Prior to her stop at Princeton, she was on staff at UMass in various assistant coach roles beginning as part-time assistant in 2017 and leading the varsity fours as a full-time assistant by the time of her departure in August 2019.
In addition to her role at Princeton, she has directed the masters rowing program at the Carnegie Lake Rowing Association since 2019 where her responsibilities included coaching various levels of experienced boats, organizing daily lineups, creating weekly coaching schedules and annual training plans.
In August 2018 she served as a program coach at the Craftsbury Outdoors Center in Craftsbury, Vt. Carlisle Reske got her first taste of coaching at the collegiate level when she joined the UMass program as a volunteer assistant from late 2016 until June 2017. Prior to making the transition from volunteer to full-time assistant at UMass she was also a program coach at Northampton Community Rowing. Carlisle Reske directed youth and adult rowers plus regattas, created training plans and ran practices.
She first tested the coaching waters in 2011 when she spent that summer and the following two at Dee Campbell Rowing Center in Alexandria, Va. She led the advanced sculling program and developed novice, intermediate, varsity and master’s rowers. She also served a brief stint at Old Dominion Boat Club in 2014.
A four-year letterwinner at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., Carlisle Reske was a two-time captain and All-American. She was an ECAC All-Star and a NEWMAC All-Conference selection in 2015. As a four-time NEWMAC Scholar-Athlete, she also was a recipient of the Smith College Golden Oar Award in 2015.
A US Rowing Level II certified coach, Carlisle Reske is a two-time graduate of Smith. In 2015, she completed a bachelor of arts in elementary education and liberal studies. She went on to add a master’s degree in 2018 with a concentration in exercise science and coaching.
