Orange Split Day One at Lake Morey

Syracuse split its morning and afternoon races on the first day of the Lake Morey Invite in Fairlee, Vermont, on Saturday. The Orange will race Boston University on Sunday morning to complete the weekend racing before heading back home to Syracuse.
The morning session began with #6 Dartmouth reclaiming the Packard Cup when the Varsity 8 defeated #10 Syracuse by 5.26 seconds, finishing the 2,000-meter course in 5:37.55 while the Orange crossed the finish in 5:42.81. The Second Varsity Eight went 5:47.9 against the Big Green, finishing 2.6 seconds behind Dartmouth (5:45.3) while the 3rd Varsity Eight finished in 5:54.4, 4.6 seconds behind Dartmouth's 3V8. Dartmouth completed the sweep with a victory in the 4V8 race, beating Syracuse (5:56.5) by 3.5 seconds.
Syracuse's 4V8 lined up with Dartmouth's 5V8 to start the afternoon racing. The Orange earned a victory crossing the finish in 5:58.9 earning an open water victory over Dartmouth's crew (6:11.4). The 3V8 raced Georgetown and Boston University giving the Orange a little preview of Sunday morning's race with the Terriers. Syracuse finished in 5:52.3 with Boston U in second (+2.7), and Georgetown in third (+17.8).
The Orange 2V8 cruised to victory in beating Georgetown by 18.2 seconds crossing the finish in 5:48.7 and the Varsity 8 capped off Day One of the Lake Morey Invite with a 9.2 second win over Georgetown's top boat (5:52.8) which is ranked #14 in the country in the latest IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll.
Syracuse and Cornell will begin Sunday's racing with the Conlan Cup, which Syracuse currently has held possession of since winning it in 2022.
