4/13/2025 1:40:00 PM | Men's Rowing
The Syracuse men's rowing team closed out its first weekend of spring racing in Redwood City, Calif., on Sunday morning. The Orange faced off against #8 Stanford, a day after competitive races against the California Rowing Club (CRC), University of California's freshmen eight, and #3 Brown.
"It was great to get our first weekend of racing under our belts," Syracuse head coach Dave Reischman said. "We saw a lot of positives and identified some areas to target in the next few weeks. It was tough not to get a win but we competed hard and learned a lot."
In the Varsity Eight race, #8 Stanford beat Syracuse by 1.4 seconds, in near-perfect conditions on the 2,000 meter course at Redwood Shores. Stanford finished in 5:34.6 while the Orange crossed the finish line in 5:36.0.
The 2nd Varsity Eight had a similarly close finish to Stanford with the Cardinal beating SU by 1.9 seconds. The Orange, steered by Katherine Kelly with Anders Erlandsen in stroke season, finished in 5:46.6.
Syracuse returns home to the east coast and will have a quick turnaround before heading to Annaoplis next weekend for the annual Goes Trophy race against #14 Cornell and #17 Navy on Saturday, April 19.
