Daniella Guyette was named the ACC Goalkeeper of the Year on Wednesday, capping a season in which she backstopped the Orange to a 13-5 record and a 12-game winning streak alongside one of the nation's top defenses. Guyette is the second player in Syracuse program history to earn the accolade, joining Delaney Sweitzer, who won the award in 2023. Syracuse's first season in the ACC came in 2014.
Â
The senior Midseason All-American and Tewaaraton Nominee was the backbone to one of the nation's top defenses, holding opponents to just 7.81 goals per game, the seventh-best mark in the nation and second in the ACC. She also logged a .461 save percentage and was over .500 in eight games. All the while, she faced the nation's third-toughest schedule.
Â
Guyette was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, on March 24 and April 14 and ultimately an All-ACC First Team honoree.
Â
She started her senior season against a gauntlet, facing the preseason top-three ranked teams in the nation in Maryland, North Carolina and Stanford. Guyette was up for the challenge, posting 31 saves and a .508 save percentage across all three contests.
Â
She continued her strong performance against ranked opponents, holding then-ranked No. 4 Northwestern to just six goals while logging eight saves and a .571 save percentage in a 9-6 victory. Just days later, she stymied then-ranked No. 7 Yale to just five goals in a narrow 6-5 win. She posted 10 saves and a .667 save percentage in the triumph over the Bulldogs.
Â
Guyette wrapped up her regular season in strong form as well, with four consecutive performances with save percentages at .400 or better. She was critical in the Orange's four overtime win over Notre Dame with 11 saves, including three in the third overtime period. She finished the season with a 7.27 goals against average and .509 save percentage against ranked opponents in the regular season.
Â
Guyette and the Orange will learn their postseason fate on Sunday, May 3 during the NCAA Selection Show. The NCAA Tournament features 29 teams, including 15 automatic bids and 14 at-large bids. The selection show will air on ESPNU at 9 p.m.
