
#4 Syracuse Drops Regular Season Finale to #13 Boston College

No. 4 Syracuse (12-4, 7-3 ACC) saw its 12-game winning streak come to an end on Thursday evening, falling to No. 13 Boston College (9-6, 6-4 ACC) 7-4 at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Senior Daniella Guyette was strong between the pipes, closing with six saves and a .462 save percentage. Boston College's Shea Dolce kept the Orange offense in check logging eight saves and a .750 save percentage.

The Eagles struck first just over a minute into the game before extending their lead to 2-0 at the six-minute mark. The Orange got one back when Caroline Trinkaus got the Orange on the board with 2:32 to go in the quarter, but Boston College scored just 30 seconds later to cushion its lead to 3-1.

Mackenzie Rich dodged her way to the cage on the opening possession of the second quarter, scoring just 13 seconds in to bring the score to 3-2. Boston College's Molly Driscoll scored the only other goal of the quarter near the six-minute mark to send the Eagles to the half with a 4-2 edge.

Molly Guzik foundthe back of the net two minutes into the second half to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Eagles punched back minutes later to pull back ahead, 5-3 before the end of the third. Bri Peters got in on the action just 13 seconds into the fourth, though, putting the Orange back within one at 5-4.
Yet, that was the last goal the Orange would score as the Eagles pulled away in the fourth with a 7-4 win.

The loss snaps a 12-game winning streak for Syracuse and gives them a final record of 12-4 to end the regular season.

The Orange will now head to Charlotte, North Carolina for the ACC Tournament. The first round will take place on Wednesday, April 22. The semifinals will follow on Friday, April 24 and the championship for Sunday, April 26. The full bracket and seedings will be released upon the conclusion of Thursday's games.
