Orange Alums Bring Home Hardware at the Women’s World Lacrosse Championship

The Women's World Lacrosse Championship came to an end in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday morning, and a few Orange alums are bringing back some hardware.

Team USA posted a resounding 16-4 victory over Team Canada in the championship game. Former Orange standouts Katie Goodale '24 and Emma Muchnick '26 were both on Team USA's roster and will bring home a gold medal. Additionally, Kayla Treanor '16 aided the Stars and Stripes as an assistant coach while current strength and conditioning coach Mike Sullivan served in the same capacity.

Muchnick tallied four goals on five shots to go with two assists while Goodale anchored a defense that held opponents to just 4.5 goals per game. The Orange alums helped the United States win its fifth consecutive World Championship and 36th consecutive game.

A pair of former Syracuse players will bring home silver medals, with Maddy Baxter '24 and Bianca Chevarie '23 each having played for Team Canada. Baxter netted nine goals and posted two assists. Chevarie was a part of the Canadian defense that held teams to five goals or fewer in four games, including a shutout against Germany.

Shira Parower '25, competing with Israel, helped take down the Haudenosaunee National Team in the third-place game. She logged three goals in the tournament. Meanwhile, Jalyn Jimerson '22 scored nine goals and Sierra Cockerille '22 finished with seven for the Haudenosaunee Team. Alie Jimerson '18 was also a member of the Haudenosaunee Team.
