
#8 Orange Top UAlbany for Eighth Straight Win

No. 8 Syracuse (8-3, 4-2 ACC) extended its winning streak to eight games with a 10-8 win over UAlbany (7-3, 2-0 American East) at John Fallon Field on Tuesday afternoon.

The offense was led by Emma Muchnick and Caroline Trinkaus who each scored three goals in the victory. Molly Guzik also scored in the win, extending her streak to 11 consecutive games with a goal.

The Orange defense was strong, causing 12 turnovers and holding UAlbany to eight goals. Daniella Guyette logged four saves in the net in the victory.

Syracuse got on the board early with a pair of goals from Trinkaus and built momentum with tallies from Guzik and Annie Parker to take a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Trinkaus added a man-up goal early in the second quarter to complete the hat trick, while Mackenzie Rich and Muchnick each found the back of the net as the Orange carried a 7-5 advantage into halftime.

The third quarter was a defensive battle, with Syracuse holding UAlbany scoreless while adding one goal to extend the lead to 8-5.

UAlbany made a late push in the fourth quarter, scoring three times to cut the deficit to 9-7. Muchnick responded with a key goal midway through the quarter to give Syracuse a cushion.

The Great Danes got a few opportunities down the stretch, including a goal with just over three minutes remaining, but the Orange defense held strong. With under a minute to play and holding a 10-8 edge, Courtney Maclay forced a turnover in the final seconds to seal the victory.
