
Orange Close Out Regular Season at Marc Deneault Memorial Inv.

The Orange closed out their regular season at the Marc Deneault Memorial Invite in Ithaca, N.Y., on Saturday, turning in a strong performance across multiple events ahead of next weekend's ACC Indoor Championships.
Isaiah Hayes headlined the men's side, winning his heat in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.20 before returning to claim the final with a time of 8.02. Tawakal Omar also advanced out of the heat, finishing second with an 8.37.
On the women's side, Tia Outlaw, Peyton Rollins and Emeline Clark finished first (8.42), second (8.54) and fifth (8.68), respectively, in their heat of the 60-meter hurdles. Outlaw went on to win the final, clocking an 8.36. Sophomore Ester Ganda posted a 7.81 in the 60-meter dash to qualify for the final, where she placed fourth with a time of 7.41.
Syracuse dominated the distance events as well. Asher Danielsen won the men's mile in 4:10.06, with Tristan Thurneysen close behind in second at 4:15.47. The women's mile was equally impressive, with the Orange claiming five of the top seven spots. Freshman Gretta Johnson led the way, winning in 5:03.64, followed by Sarah Lawson (5:06.02) and Beatriz Fernandes (5:09.16) in second and third. Blake Parker finished sixth (5:11.09) and Mackenzie Cook rounded out the group in seventh (5:11.70).
In the sprints, Andrea Pomales (44.97) and Leah Bello (45.75) both earned top-10 finishes in the women's 300-meter dash. Shayla Ford took second in the 200-meter dash with a 25.36, while Mia Hernandez placed fifth at 25.98.
Syracuse now turns its attention to the ACC Indoor Championships, set for Thursday, Feb. 26 through Saturday, Feb. 28 in Boston, Mass.
