
Orange Open Weekend at Providence and Duke

Syracuse track and field got their weekend started at the Duke Invitational, and raced at Providence's Friar Invitational on Friday night.
At Duke, Jamir Brown won the prelims of the 110-meter hurdles in 13.56 seconds, easily advancing to Saturday's final, where he'll be joined by Isaiah Hayes (14.13 seconds), who took second in his heat.
Peyton Rollins set a new personal best in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 13.52 seconds to advance to Saturday as well. Emeline Clark took 13th in 13.87 seconds.
In the 100-meter dash, Indie Wallace-Persaud added a PR time of 11.66 seconds to advance to the final, Sierra Joseph took 24th in a PR time of 11.96 seconds.
Action at Duke begins at Noon on Saturday, with the Orange racing in the 100/110-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay.
At Providence, Carmen Luisi led the way in the invitational section of the mile with a time of 4:51.96, followed by Gretta Johnson (5:01.52). Luise Hitzbleck won her section of the event by over the rest of the field by more than five seconds. She crossed the line in 5:01.13. Beatriz Fernandes was third in 5:06.64 and Blake Parker took 15th in 5:10.86.
Charles Guerrera (4:05.22) was sixth in the invitational section of the men's mile, followed by Asher Danielson (4:10.55). Tristan Thurneysen (4:13.37) took eighth in the men's open event, while Andrew Walton (4:19.95) was 28th.
Billie Frazier was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:05.18), followed two placed behind by Ivana Richards (1:06.79).
In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Syracuse had a sixth-place finisher in each event. Mackenzie Cook (11:01.71) led the women and Omar Alsaidi (9:11.65) ran for the men. Â
Mia Hernandez finished ninth in the 200, finishing in 26.58 seconds.
Sarah Lawson took 15th in the 3,000-meter run (10:07.92), to end the day for the Orange.
