From the Start
- It's all on the table Friday afternoon as, for the second time ever, a four seed and a six seed battle it out for the ACC Field Hockey Championship.
- Fourth-seeded Syracuse and sixth-seeded Boston College join the 2014 Championship as the only other time these two seeds meet in the final game. It is the third time two teams seeded between four and eight meet in the title game alongside sixth-seeded Virginia over fifth-seeded North Carolina in 2016.
- Friday's game will also be just the third time in ACC field hockey history the championship game will not feature a major award winner (1985, 2000).
- No. 16 Syracuse earned its championship game berth with a 3-2 (3-1 SO) win over top-seeded No. 7 North Carolina, ending a nine-year run for the Tar Heels as league champions. Hattie Madden and Aubrey Turner scored in regulation while sophomores Sammie Goin and goalie Tane King played the heroes in the shootout.
- Likewise, it was an overtime thriller for Boston College on Wednesday as the Eagles knocked out Virginia 2-1 in extra time.
- Friday's title game marks the third time the Orange play in the finals and the first time under fourth-year head coach Lynn Farquhar. Syracuse is hunting its first-ever ACC Championship, falling short in 2014 and 2015.
- The title bout begins at 3 p.m. Friday afternoon at Karen Shelton Stadium, with ACC Network on hand. Leah Secondo and Suzanna Bush will have the call for the deciding game.
- Boston College got the better of Syracuse in the regular season with a 3-1 decision at Coyne Stadium.
- But the Orange hold a 3-0 advantage over Boston College in the ACC Tournament, upending fourth-seeded Boston College 6-2 during the 2022 postseason hosted down the road at Duke.
- Farquhar is in the later stages of her fourth regular season at the helm of the program, looking to add to her 48 wins in her time at Syracuse. The Orange reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for a second time in those first three years last year, knocking out Liberty in strokes.
With a Win Friday Syracuse Would...
- Win its first-ever ACC Field Hockey Championship.
- Win three games at the ACC Tournament for the first time ever.
- Claim its first conference championship since 2011, a 3-2 thriller over longtime rival UConn.
- Win its seventh conference championship (BIG EAST: 1993, 1995, 2001, 2008, 2010, 2011).
- Secure its 30th win all-time over Boston College (Currently 29-14).
- Be Syracuse's 12th win at the ACC Tournament.
- See Lynn Farquhar win her fifth game at the ACC Tournament.
- Improve to 4-0 all-time against the Eagles in the ACC Tournament.
- Avenge a 1994 loss in the BIG EAST championship game.
- Be the 49th win in Lynn Farquhar's head coaching career at Syracuse and her 156th overall win as a head coach, including 107 at Saint Joseph's.
THE Cardiac 'Cuse
- Nothing gets the heart going like a one-goal hockey game. And Syracuse fans are well accustomed to that this year.Â
- Tuesday afternoon's 2-1 win over Louisville was the ninth one-goal game for the Orange this year, bringing the team's record to 7-2 in one-goal games.
- Syracuse one-upped itself on Wednesday, going to a shootout with No. 7 North Carolina, ultimately winning 3-2 with a 3-1 score in shootouts.
- While Syracuse has not played in the most one-goalers in the league, (Duke 13), the Orange are tied for the  most one-goal wins this season with Duke's eight.Â
- Friday's foe, Boston College, is 3-6 in one goal games after Wednesday's semifinal.
- Both teams in the title game have only played one-goal games in the 2026 ACC Tournament.
