From the Start
- Round two for Syracuse and North Carolina as the two sides meet in the ACC Semifinals for the first time since 2024 down the road in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
- The Orange earned their third-straight trip to the ACC Semifinals by way of a 4-3 track meet against fifth-seeded Louisville Tuesday afternoon. Aubrey Turner had a hand in all four goals, scoring on a rebounded corner attempt while feeding the castle for two corner goals by Jess Liddell. Turner added a chip assist to Fieve Frenken for the game-winning goal in the 52nd minute.
- Top-seeded North Carolina upended Stanford 6-0 in the first quarterfinal game of the Tournament behind two goals from Ryleigh Heck and four other goal scorers.
- It was a fight to the finish earlier this year between the 'Cuse and North Carolina in Chapel Hill. The Tar Heels won 2-1 in an evenly balanced game.
- Syracuse will look to do something it has never done before: beat UNC on the Tar Heels' homefield. The Orange trail in the all-time series 7-22, but the last two games have been decided by one goal; the 2-1 defeat at Karen Shelton Stadium earlier this year and a 4-3 setback at home in 2025.
- Farquhar is in the later stages of her fourth regular season at the helm of the program, looking to add to her 47 wins in her time at Syracuse. The Orange reached the NCAA Tournament quarterfinals for a second time in those first three years last year, knocking out Liberty in strokes.
With a Win Wednesday Syracuse Would...
- Advance to the ACC Tournament championship game for the first time since 2015.
- Reach the ACC Championship game for the third time in program history.
- Be the program's first-ever over North Carolina on the Heels' home field.
- Snap an eight-game slide in the series dating back to 2021.
- Be Syracuse's 11th win at the ACC Tournament.
- See Lynn Farquhar win her four game at the ACC Tournament.
- Beat North Carolina in the ACC Tournament for the second time and first since the 2014 Semifinals in Durham.
- Be the 48th win in Lynn Farquhar's head coaching career at Syracuse and her 154th overall win as a head coach, including 107 at Saint Joseph's.
THE Cardiac 'Cuse
- Nothing gets the heart going like a one-goal hockey game. And Syracuse fans are well accustomed to that this year.Â
- Tuesday afternoon's 2-1 win over Louisville was the ninth one-goal game for the Orange this year, bringing the team's record to 7-2 in one-goal games.
- While Syracuse has not played in the most one-goalers in the league, (Duke 13), the Orange do have the second-most one-goal wins this season trailing only Duke's eight.Â
- Wednesday's opponent, North Carolina, is 4-6 in one-goal games this year, five of which have been at Karen Shelton Stadium (2-3).
