Syracuse Lacrosse Programs to Learn Postseason Path During Selection Show Sunday
5/3/2026 12:33:00 PM | Men's Lacrosse, Women's Lacrosse
The Syracuse lacrosse programs will learn their postseason fates on Sunday evening, with the NCAA Tournament Selection Shows set to air on ESPNU. The women's selection show is slated for a 9 p.m. start with the men's show to follow at 9:30 p.m.
Â
The women's team is coming off a 13-5 season under first-year head coach Regy Thorpe. Thorpe piloted the Orange to a 12-game winning streak against one of the toughest schedules in the entire nation. The Orange finished with eight wins over ranked opponents.
Â
The Syracuse defense spearheaded the season for the women, holding opponents to just 8.06 goals per game, the 11th best mark in the nation while having played the third-toughest strength of schedule in the nation. Daniella Guyette serves as the Syracuse netminder and was named ACC Goalkeeper of the Year last week after posting a 7.81 goals-against average.
Â
The men's program wrapped up its regular season at 11-5 overall. The Orange average 12.9 goals per game, led by Joey Spallina's 75 points. Spallina became the all-time points leader earlier this season, surpassing Mike Powell's mark of 307. The men's program also wrapped up its season with eight wins over ranked opponents.
Â
Both teams are in position to host NCAA Tournament first round games, with the men's and women's programs slotting in at No. 6 overall in their respective RPI rankings. Primary seeding criteria for the NCAA Tournament includes the evaluation of the RPI, head-to-head competition, results vs. common opponents and significant wins and losses with other secondary criteria playing a factor.
Â
The top-eight seeded teams in both brackets will host opening round games. The men's first round game will be played on either Saturday, May 9 or Sunday May 10. On the women's side, the first round will take place on Friday, May 8 with the second round to follow on Sunday, May 10, also at the predetermined host sites.
Â
Game times and opponents will be announced tonight during their respective selection shows. Ticket information will follow.
