
Walsdorf Sets New Syracuse 10k Record

The Syracuse track and field teams competed on both coasts on Friday evening, leaving the Stanford Invitational with a new school record and winning eight events at the Cortland Red Dragon Open.
At Stanford, Peter Walsdorf was the Orange's top finisher in the 10k, setting a new school record and PR in 28:14.58. Connor Ackley posted a time of 28:34.50, while Assaf Harari crossed the line in 28:49.65 and Louis Small in 28:51.68.
In the men's 5k, Benne Anderson (13:43.15) set a new PR to place seventh in his section, while Ben Gabelman (13:56.43) was 14th in the same section. Drew Zundell (13:44.02) was fifth in his section.
Selma Anderson (15:41.45) was sixth in her section of the 5k, followed by Jayden Harberts in 19th, with a time of 16:33.79.
Emma Eastman (33:05.36) and Madeline Heintz (33:59.36) placed 17th and 16th in their respective sections of the women's 10k.
Julian Franjieh (8:51.82) led off the evening by taking 13th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
At Cortland, Syracuse won eight of the 10 events they competed in.
In the men's 1,500 'Cuse took the top-two spots and placed four in the top-five. Omar Alsaidi won the event in 4:00.08, followed 0.22 seconds behind by Asher Danielson. Tristan Thurneysen (4:02.99) and Andrew Walton (4:06.28) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Luise Hiltzbleck picked up her first collegiate victory, winning the women's 1,500-meter run in 4:39.85. Blake Parker placed eighth in 4:52.48.
Emeline Clark won the 100-meter hurdles by more than a second, crossing the line in 14.15 seconds. Ivana Richards (15.42 seconds) was third.
Clark then won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.23. Billie Frazier (1:05.36) was second, with Richards in fourth (1:08.05). Elijah Mallard PRed in the men's race and won in dominant fashion. He turned in a time of 51.10 seconds, more than four and a half seconds ahead of the next-closest finisher.
Isaiah Hayes also won the 110-meter hurdles handily, crossing the line in 14.09 seconds, more than 0.8 seconds ahead of the field.
Shayla Ford added to the victories in the 400-meter dash. She finished in 58.73 seconds, while Nylah Robinson and Samantha Bloch took 12th and 13th, respectively.
Esther Ganda won the 200 in 24.99 seconds, while Mia Hernandez placed fifth (25.44 seconds). Nylah Robinson (23rd) and Bianca Williams (41st) also raced.
Ganda (12.01 seconds) was runner-up in the 100-meter dash. Hernandez was 10th in 12.75 seconds, followed by Jada Williams (13.36 seconds) and Bianca Williams (13.72 seconds). Nasir Adams ran to a time of 12.01 seconds in the men's race.
