Syracuse looks for a second straight triumph and Niagara opens its season when the two teams meet on Sunday, Aug. 17, at the SU Soccer Stadium.
The Syracuse-Niagara Series
Niagara has a 2-1-1 advantage in the season series with Syracuse. The Orange claimed the first-ever meeting, 3-0, on Sept. 19, 1996. In the most recent encounter, on Aug. 26, 2021, Niagara prevailed, 4-2.
Syracuse Status
The Orange began the 2025 campaign with a 5-0 victory against Charleston Southern.
Graduate student Ashley Rauch scored twice in a 40-second span of the first half against the Buccaneers. She tallied after stealing a clear from the Charleston Southern keeper and then added a second goal on a penalty kick.
Three players found the net for the first time in Orange. Sophomore Anna Croyle, senior Mia Klammer and freshman Olivia Bozzo each scored for Syracuse. Freshman Julia Arbelaez contributed two assists in her debut and Rauch added an assist in the win.

Sunday marks the first outing for Niagara in 2025. The Purple Eagles were 5-8-4 a season ago.
Senior forward Morgan Kulniszewski is the top returning scorer for Niagara. She contributed two goals and two assists in 2024.
Competition for the starting goalkeeper spot includes freshman Julia Poissant from Camillus, who played scholastically at West Genesee High School.
