
Syracuse Ends Season On The Road

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis team (8-9, 1-9 ACC) is eager to turn the page and build momentum as they prepare for two strong opponents this weekend facing No. 62 Louisville (11-18, 2-7 ACC) on Friday, April 11 at 4 p.m. and No. 24 Notre Dame (17-4, 7-3 ACC) on Sunday, April 13 at 11 a.m.
The two matches this weekend will conclude the regular season for the Orange before they enter into ACC tournament play. Fans will be able to steam the matches live with the links provided below.

ABOUT THE ORANGE
- Syracuse is coming off a 10-11 campaign last spring. The Orange returned four players from last year's team this fall and welcomed two newcomers.
- Miyuka Kimoto is back for her senior year with the Orange after racking up 11 doubles and 10 singles victories in the spring. She earned her first ACC Player of the Week Award last March and was tabbed No. 24 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) preseason singles rankings.
- Also back as a senior for the Orange is Shiori Ito, who checked in at No. 44 in the ITA's preseason doubles rankings alongside Kimoto. She has won 31 career dual singles contests and to go along with her 27 doubles victories.
- Anastasia Sysoeva returns for her second year with 'Cuse as a junior. In her debut campaign last year, she finished with a 12-6 record in singles, which included six wins against ACC opponents.
- Another returning junior for the Orange is Constance Levivier, who tallied six wins last spring across singles and doubles.
- Syracuse welcomes two fresh faces this fall - Nelly Knezkova and Serafima Shastova. Knezkova earned All-Big West Second Team honors in singles last season at Hawaii, where she played the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. In her one year at Jacksonville State, Shastova won 12 singles contests on her way to earning First Team All-ASUN and ASUN Freshman of the Year honors.
- Joining the Orange for the Spring season are two freshmen, Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim.
- Head coach Younes Limam returns for his 11th season at the helm of the Orange. Jacqueline Calla is in her second season as an assistant coach.
- Syracuse played their last home match of the season on Sunday, April 6 against No. 5 Virginia losing, 4-1.
- Shastova earned her 10th win in singles play which made her fall in this week's ITA rankings at the No. 101 spot.
- Since facing No. 5 Virginia, Syracuse has competed against eight ITA ranked opponents. Of those eight three have been in the top-10.
- Two of the six matches on Sunday evening were determined unfinished with each of them being in their third set.
- Virginia kept the lead in the all-time series 17-1 against 'Cuse.
SINGLES SUCCESS
- Syracuse is 52-39 in singles in its 17 matches.
- The Orange have at least seven wins at five different singles positions. The most with 12 at the No. 6 spot.
- Ito has competed at four different singles positions this season while Levivier, Shastova and Sysoeva competed at three.
- Wojcik has the team-best 11 wins in singles. Shastova follows with ten, then Knezkova and Ito with eight. All 11 of Wojcik's wins have come from the Nos. 5 and 6 positions.
- Syracuse has played 13 different doubles pairings this season.
- Shastova and Wojcik each have nine doubles wins to pace the Orange. Followed by Sysoeva with seven.
- The Orange have won seven out of 15 doubles points since losing to James Madison on Jan. 25.
- Overall, Syracuse is 22-25 in doubles play this season with 11 of 13 pairings having contributed at least one victory.
- Kimoto and Knezkova earned ACC Doubles Team of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 25.
- Kimoto and Knezkova were ranked No. 55 in doubles by ITA alongside Shastova and Wojcick who ranked No. 74 on Tuesday, March 4.
- Syracuse freshmen Monika Wojcik and Haram Kim are 22-9 across doubles and singles this season.
- Wojcik is 11-3 in singles and has won a trio of sets with a 6-0 score.
- Kim made her college debut in the Fordham match, winning at No. 6 singles, 7-5, 6-3.
- Wojick was awarded ACC Freshman of the Week on Feb. 4 after competing against Drexel. She won her first ever three-set singles match, 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
- On April 8, The Cardinals were placed at No. 62 on ITA's rankings. Duo Berta Miret and Lika Persypkina are 89th in doubles. Singles player Alice Otis is 122nd.
- Syracuse leads 8-7 in the all-time series record against Louisville.
- In the last match up, the Orange swept the Cardinals 7-0 on April 7, 2024.
- Recently, the Cardinals upset No. 35 Clemson with a 4-3 result this past Sunday. The score was tied 3-3 when Otis clinched the match.
- At home, Notre Dame has a record of 12-2 and is on a two-game winning streak defeating No.35 Clemson on April 4 and No. 26 Georgia Tech on April 6.
- They hold a veteran roster having four seniors, three juniors and two freshmen.
- Notre Dame ranked 24th in ITA's updated list on April 8. The team has one player, Akari Matsuno, currently ranked at No. 64, along with two doubles pairings ranked: Rylie Hanford and Raquel Gonzalez at No. 60 and Akari Matsuno and Rylie Hanford at No. 88.
- The Fighting Irish leads in the all-time series against the Orange, 13-5.
- Notre Dame plays Boston College on Friday, April 11 before facing Syracuse for each of their last matches of the season.
