Shastova, Orange Doubles Team Qualify for Championship Rounds

The Syracuse women's tennis team had a strong day of play at the ITA New England Regionals.
Serafima Shastova and Orange doubles team Nelly Knezkova and Anastasia Sysoeva, won their semifinal matches to send them to the final round of play in both the singles and doubles brackets. Knezkova and Sysoeva competed in the final round in the afternoon session, but dropped a close match to become the ITA New England Regional Doubles Runner-Ups.
Two Years in a Row
Shastova's win over fellow Orange teammate Anastasia Sysoeva, sends her to the singles championship round for the second year in a row. Shastova, the reigning champion, will fight to defend her 2024 title as she faces Stephanie Yakoff of Harvard.
To the Championship We Go!
Doubles duo Knezkova and Sysoeva find themselves heading to the final round of play in the doubles contest after defeating Boston College's Seren Agar and Alexandra Torre 7-5, 6-4. They were set to challenge Lenna Friedman and Orly Ogilvy of Yale for the trophy in the afternoon session.
Closing Out Doubles Play
Knezkova and Sysoeva played tough, bringing the match to a tiebreaker, but ultimately fell to the Yale duo 3-6, 6-1, 10-5.
