SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse softball team (19-11, 1-8 ACC) is set for a doubleheader against fellow Salt City school, Le Moyne (8-18, 1-5 NEC), on Wednesday, March 26, at 3 and 5 p.m. The matchup marks the third and fourth meetings between the teams this season, following their two contests at the UNCW Tournament to open the year. Both games will air live on NEC Front Row.
ORANGE UPDATE:
'Cuse enters the doubleheader against Le Moyne looking to bounce back after being swept by Clemson in a home ACC series. The Orange fell 8-1 in the opener before dropping consecutive shutouts, 10-0 and 15-0. The series results moved 'Cuse to 1-8 in conference play, with its lone ACC victory coming against Duke on March 15.
Before facing Clemson, Syracuse opened its 2025 home slate with a doubleheader against Niagara. The Orange secured a dramatic 7-6 walk-off victory in game one, with Tessa Galipeau delivering the game-winning RBI single. Syracuse followed up with a dominant 15-0 run-rule win in game two, marking its largest margin of victory this season.
Through 30 games, Madelyn Lopez has led on offense, hitting .435 (40-for-92) with 20 runs, 18 RBIs, and two home runs. Galipeau (.391), Angie Ramos (.357), Jadyn Burney (.338), Kelly Breen (.326), and Gabby Lantier (.324) have also been key contributors to the Orange offense, all hitting above .300 this season.
In the circle, Julianna Verni and Madison Knight have shouldered the majority of Syracuse's pitching workload, accounting for 145.2 of the team's 196 innings. Verni has posted a 2.45 ERA in 16 appearances, while Knight holds a 2.71 ERA across 15 outings. The duo has combined for 134 strikeouts, with Knight's 78 ranking fourth in the ACC.
SCOUTING THE DOLPHINS:
Le Moyne enters Wednesday's twin bill with an 8-18 record, highlighted by a 5-0 performance at the Mount St. Mary's Tournament, where the Dolphins defeated The Mount three times and Morgan State twice. Most recently, Le Moyne was swept in a three-game Northeast Conference series against Saint Francis (Pa.), falling 3-2, 15-14, and 9-0 (5 inn.) to the Red Flash.
Alyssa Dybacz leads Le Moyne at the plate, hitting .321 (26-for-81) through 26 games with 14 runs, 12 RBIs, and a home run. Cianna Benamati follows closely behind, posting a .290 (18-for-62) batting average on the season.
In the circle, freshman Ross Nevaeh has been Le Moyne's workhorse, leading the team with 75.1 innings pitched. She has recorded a team-high 51 strikeouts but carries a 5.58 ERA, allowing 101 hits and 76 runs.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST LE MOYNE:
Syracuse holds a perfect 6-0 all-time record against Le Moyne, with five of those victories coming in the last two seasons. However, none of the Orange's wins over the Dolphins have been true road victories, giving 'Cuse its first opportunity to secure a win at Le Moyne's home field.
'Cuse and Le Moyne have already faced off twice this season, with the Orange earning 3-1 and 4-1 victories over the Dolphins at the UNCW Tournament on Feb. 7 and Feb. 9.

Syracuse returns to Skytop Softball Stadium for the second-straight weekend, hosting North Carolina from Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30.
