DURHAM, N.C. – Syracuse softball (16-6, 0-3 ACC) continues ACC play with a road series against No. 16 Duke (17-8, 2-1 ACC) on Friday, March 14, and Saturday, March 15. The Orange's trip to Durham marks their second-consecutive weekend facing a Top-20 opponent, following their conference-opening series against No. 19 Stanford last weekend.

ORANGE UPDATE:
Cuse is coming off its first ACC series of the season at No. 19 Stanford (March 7-9), where they dropped all three games to the Cardinal. The Orange were competitive in the first two matchups, falling 4-3 and 5-1, before suffering their first run-rule loss of the year in game three, 9-0 (6 inn.).
Through 22 games, two Orange hitters are batting above .400. Madelyn Lopez leads the team with a .478 average (33-for-69), while Angie Ramos follows closely behind at .410 (25-for-61). Together, the duo has combined for 58 hits, 30 runs, 28 RBIs, and 16 walks. Syracuse's offense also features four additional hitters batting above .300 with Tessa Galipeau (.391), Kelly Breen (.352), Laila Morales-Alves (.342), and Gabby Lantier (.308) each averaging at least two plate appearances per game.
Madison Knight and Julianna Verni have led the Orange in the circle this season, pitching 58.1 and 51.2 innings, respectively. Knight has a team-high 65 strikeouts in 11 appearances, ranking fourth in the ACC. Verni has been impressive with a 1.22 ERA, the second-lowest in the conference.
After its first 19 games of the year, 'Cuse matched the 2011 squad for the best start in program history at 16-3. The Orange opened the season with an 11-game winning streak, nearly doubling the previous program-best starts of 6-0 in 2011 and 2022.

Duke enters the series against Syracuse ranked in all four major softball polls. The Blue Devils sit at No. 16 in the NFCA rankings, No. 17 in the USA Softball poll, and No. 13 in Softball America and D1Softball's rankings.
The Blue Devils are coming off a tough, 1-0 loss to No. 7 Tennessee in midweek action. The game's lone run was scored in a first inning, on a solo shot by the Lady Vols. Other than the lone blemish, Duke's pitchers Dani Drogemuller and Cassidy Curd were stellar on the mound, giving up just four hits in the loss.
Duke opened ACC play with a series at Clemson, taking two of three games from the Tigers. After falling in the conference opener, 12-4, the Blue Devils picked up 5-3 and 2-1 wins in games two and three to earn their first series win of the season.
