SYRACUSE, N.Y. -Â The Syracuse softball team (26-19, 5-15 ACC) run-ruled Boston College (21-25, 5-15 ACC), 16-2, in five innings on Saturday at Skytop Softball Stadium to clinch its first ACC series win of the season. The Orange's largest margin of victory against a conference opponent was fueled by a grand slam from Taylor Posner, who doubled the 'Cuse lead with one swing in the bottom of the second. Vanessa Flores also had a career day, driving in a personal-best five runs, highlighted by a three-run home run, her second homer in the last four games.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Flores recorded her first RBI of the day in the bottom of the first inning, putting Syracuse on the board with an early 1-0 lead. The Orange broke the game open in the second, beginning with a RBI bunt single from Angie Ramos. Laila Morales-Alves followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0, and Flores drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in another run. Posner then delivered the big swing of the inning, launching a grand slam over the center field wall to give 'Cuse an 8-0 advantage.
Syracuse kept the offense rolling in the bottom of the third, adding five more runs. Madison Knight scored on a wild pitch, Jadyn Burney singled home a run, and Flores capped the inning with a big three-run homer.
Boston College managed a two-run home run in the top of the fourth, but that was all the Eagles could muster. The Orange responded immediately, with Morales-Alves and Madelyn Lopez driving in three more runs in the bottom of the frame.
In the circle, Knight started for the second consecutive day and delivered another strong performance, allowing just two runs on six hits and one walk, while striking out one.
OF NOTE:Â
Syracuse attempts to complete a sweep of BC in the series finale tomorrow, Sunday, April 27, at 12 p.m. The game will air live on ACCN+.

OF NOTE:Â
- Posner finished the day with a season-high four RBIs. Her grand slam was the first for the Orange since Morales-Alves hit one against Virginia on April 29, 2023.
- Flores' five RBIs marked a new career high. She is the first Orange player to drive in five runs in a game since Posner did it against Norfolk State on March 11, 2024.
- Knight's performance in the circle marked her second consecutive start and win. She has held Boston College to just 10 hits and three walks over the first two games of the series.
- Lopez and Burney finished the day with two hits apiece, their 21st and 8th multi-hit games of the season, respectively.
- Morales-Alves drove in a pair of runs for her fifth game of the season with at least two RBIs.
- The victory marks Syracuse's first ACC series win since May 3-4, 2024, when the Orange took two of three from Florida State. A win tomorrow would give the Orange their first conference series sweep since April 28-29, 2023, when they completed a sweep of Virginia.
- Today's win marks the fifth game of the year in which 'Cuse hit two home runs. The Orange are a perfect 5-0 in those games.
- The win moves Syracuse to 16-22 all-time against BC.
